Iran Says it Test-Fired Radar-Evading Missile

The Associated Press is reporting that Iran's military said it test-fired a missile that is not detectable by radar and uses multiple warheads so that it can hit multiple targets simultaneously.

State Department deputy spokesman Adam Ereli said, "I think it demonstrates that Iran has a very active and aggressive military program under way," adding, "I think Iran's military posture, military development effort, is of concern to the international community."

I think what he really meant to say was, "I've got a bad feeling about this," but after watching Harrison Ford's new movie Firewall, he decided not to infringe on Ford's trademark saying.

General Hossein Salami appeared on Television stating that the test-firing was "a remarkable goal." A clip of the missile launch was broadcasted along with the statement.

Earthquake hits Iran

Posted By Erin Miller:

A 5.7 earthquake hit Iran at 5 a.m. today followed by a 4.7 magnitude earthquake. The quakes killed at least 66 people, according to reports, and ingured at least 1,200 people. Now that I'm paying more attention to Iran due to this assignment, I'm learning many interesting facts about this country. Iran is located on a seismic fault line and is prone to earthquakes. Iran experiences at least one earthquake per day. I thought this fact was pretty interesting.

Bush thinks Iran is a security threat

Bush has declared that Iran is the biggest security threat to the United States. Last week, council members are considering what measures to take against Iran. Iran says they are pursing nuclear technology to fuel civillian power plants. The United States isn't clear what Iran's motives may be. Here is a quote taken from an article in the Los Angeles Times on March 17th: Fitzpatrick, a former State Department official, said that even if the two sides were talking about Iraq, "the nuclear question is the issue at hand. If you look at Iran's motivations for what it's doing, there are issues of pride and there are issues of security concerns, and only the United States can address those security concerns."
